At the New Jersey state SkillsUSA championships in Somerset, NJ on April 9th County Prep juniors Natalie Roszkowski and Vincent Pasia won gold medals for Photography and Computer Programming. As state champions, Natalie and Vincent will represent our state at the SkillsUSA National Skills and Leadership Conference in Atlanta, GA June 20-25.
Natalie Roszkowski of Bayonne won a gold medal in the Photography competition. In the photography contest, students compete in a series of real-world photographic scenarios and are judged by industry professionals on their overall mastery of Commercial Photography skills.
Vincent Pasia from Jersey City won a gold medal in the Competer Programming competition. In the programming contest, students demonstrate knowledge of computer programming, describe how algorithms, control structures, and programming languages work, and describe the purposes and practices of structured programming. The contest includes a computer programming design problem based upon meeting a human need within program constraints.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. A nonprofit national education association, SkillsUSA serves middle-school, high-school and college/postsecondary students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. The yearly SkillsUSA championships test the best career technical students from around the state in a wide variety of technical programs.
