This past year the World Language Department here at High Tech had an excellent year. Teachers and students were involved in a learning community sharing their efforts and experiences. Each student brought aboard a new challenge and perspective, making the learning experience more enjoyable and meaningful. Learning happened in classrooms, and often outside the walls of the classroom. We’re all so proud of our students’ achievements.
The HCST district officially implemented The Seal Of Biliteracy Program and the graduated students received their certificates from NJDOE. Students of all languages proudly celebrated their diversity through the holidays and different projects. French students at the Frank J. Gargiulo Campus also participated in several different contests. In the National French Contest students won two Gold, three Silver and two Bronze medals. In the International Theatre Festival, organized by Lycée Français de New York students won prizes for Best Writing as well as for Best Costume. They received two Honorable Mentions in the International Haiku Contest organized by United Nations International School, and in the French Language Tournament held in Middletown, NJ High Tech won The Best in Show, (receiving twelve trophies in total), as well as prizes in Poetry, Theatre, Song, Painting and Short Movie!
