(Secaucus, NJ––June 16, 2021) Jovy Rose Mariano, a rising senior at High Tech High School, has been awarded a Van Lier Fund Fellowship at The Ailey School, a world-class dance training program, announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Principal of High Tech High School.
Van Lier Fund Fellows are chosen based on criteria such as artistic merit, discipline, and commitment to excellence. Fellows at The Ailey School are expected to strive to reach their full potential as artists while maintaining levels of reald-world professionalism. The Fellowship will last through the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters.
Ms. Trista DeFilippis, who is Jovy’s Dance instructor at High Tech High School, says of her pupil’s accomplishment: “Jovy is an amazing student both academically and artistically––I couldn’t be happier for her!”
The Ailey School was started by Alvin Ailey in 1969, who believed that dance is for everybody. Since then, the program has expanded to become an institution in the world of dance, training over 3,500 students annually in both professional and junior programs.
