Lewis Carroll’s timeless classic, Alice in Wonderland was brought to the stage by County Prep’s Drama Club on May 24. The overarching goal of this production was to highlight the many talents of the creative students who attend our school. We are fortunate to house vocational and technical career programs, and this project provided a perfect opportunity to integrate the expertise of several departments. The vision was to utilize multiple disciplines in producing this show, including live Theatrical performance, Dance performance, Film and Visual elements, Music Audio Technology, Visual Art, Fashion, and Makeup Design.
Over 30 students, cast, and crew volunteered their time and talents in undertaking this adventurous journey that was both rewarding and uplifting. Directed by Kristyne Singer, the all-female cast performed the story beautifully as an ensemble. Many thanks to Meagan Woods, choreographer, Janet Patten who provided and helped with the colorful costumes, and to Irma Noel, who created beautiful and imaginative set pieces. The student tech and backstage crews were flawless in creating props and headpieces and running the themed projections, film, and audio, which, along with students providing live music, set the stage for a magical performance. Our mission was to unequivocally draw audiences into the unique universe created by Carroll and to experience it, joyfully, with Alice. Happily, we achieved our goal.
