HCST Community Raises Money for Breast Cancer Research

HCST Teams Among the Top Fundraisers in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, With High Tech High School and Explore Middle School in the Top Ten Teams

Jersey City, N.J. --HCST schools participated in the October Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, with High Tech High School and Explore Middle School coming out among the top ten fundraising teams, raising a total of $9,924.

Hosted by the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Jersey City group, the walk was held on October 10th and 17th, 2021.All proceeds from the walk were donated to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.

“We were so honored to participate in this important project,” said Amy Lin-Rodriguez, HCST Superintendent. “I am proud of our faculty, staff, students, and their families for stepping up and making such a meaningful contribution to the fight against breast cancer. We’re grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful event.”

“I am so proud of the fundraising efforts of the Explore PSA and the student body,” said Allyson Krone, Explore Middle School Principal. “Many families are affected by cancer, even within our own Explore community, so participating in this event and raising money to fund research is very important to us.”

“When you encounter cancer there is nothing more powerful than Hope, Faith & Love,” said Kathy Young, High Tech High School/ACTE Principal. “Cancer may change your journey's path, but it will not take your precious gifts of family and friendships.”

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk is held every year, providing Hudson County the opportunity to do their part in combating breast cancer and raising awareness.
