From August 5-7, High Tech High School welcomed the incoming freshman class for a dynamic, three-day orientation aimed at easing their transition into high school. Guided by our dedicated upperclassmen Peer Leaders, the new students kicked off their high school careers with confidence and a sense of community.
The schedule was packed with activities designed to build connections and familiarity. Students participated in icebreakers and team-building exercises, helping them form early friendships with their new classmates. A key highlight was a comprehensive tour of the building, where Peer Leaders pointed out important locations to ensure freshmen can navigate the hallways with ease when school begins.
The orientation focused on answering questions, discussing the expectations of high school-level academics, and introducing the freshmen to the school’s culture and extracurricular opportunities.
“Our goal was to help them feel less anxious and more prepared,” a Peer Leader commented. “Seeing them leave with smiles and new friends was the best part.”
The event successfully transformed initial nerves into genuine excitement. The school community is thrilled to welcome the Class of 2029 and looks forward to a great year ahead.
