Students from High Tech High School’s Computer Programming program recently visited New Jersey Institute of Technology for a campus tour and introduction to college life and academic opportunities in technology and computer science.
During the visit, students explored different areas of campus and learned more about NJIT’s academic programs, student resources, and campus environment. The group toured classrooms, collaborative workspaces, the campus library, and several student facilities, gaining a better understanding of what college life can look like for students pursuing careers in technology and related fields.
Students also had the opportunity to learn about student organizations, campus activities, and internship and career opportunities available to NJIT students. Throughout the visit, they connected with current students who shared insight into academics, campus involvement, and student life at NJIT.
The trip gave students valuable exposure to the opportunities available after high school and allowed them to experience a college campus firsthand while exploring potential future paths in computer science and technology.
Sama Mohamed - I enjoyed the tour the most. I appreciated that we got time with the group to tour and also time with our friends. This trip made me realize all the benefits that NJIT has and has made me consider NJIT as a future college option.
Jeremiah Moultrie - I enjoyed being able to tour the campus of NJIT, as well as the tour guide giving insight into what life on the NJIT campus is like. It impacted my understanding of technology and programming by showing me that a campus like NJIT offers amenities that will aid in my goals, such as multiple study rooms, the technology that is offered to students, a weight room, and ease of transportation on campus.
Nick Patel - I really enjoyed being able to ask questions throughout the trip, especially to the guide, because it gave me a clearer understanding of what to expect in my upcoming year at NJIT. Hearing firsthand explanations helped me connect what I’ve learned in class to real college experiences. The trip also gave me a better perspective on how technology and programming are applied in an academic setting, which made everything feel more real and achievable.
The Computer Programming program extends a sincere thank you to the faculty, staff, and student representatives at NJIT who helped make the visit possible.
