High Tech High School’s Architecture and Industrial Design students had an inspiring visit to the Hillier School of Architecture at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). A key highlight of the trip was an engaging lecture by a renowned, published architecture professor, Mr. Cays, who introduced the students to the concept of the environmental life cycle approach to design, which he explores in his book "An Environmental Life Cycle Approach to Design." This approach emphasizes the universal application of sustainable design principles across all facets of life and underscores its critical importance for the survival of our future.
While exploring the School of Architecture, the students were especially captivated by the Maker Space tour, where they experienced NJIT’s advanced machinery and cutting-edge technologies firsthand. This exposure left a lasting impact, sparking excitement and curiosity about the future of architecture and industrial design. The discussion on sustainability and the environmental life cycle further enriched the students' understanding, broadening their perspective on the importance of eco-conscious design in shaping a sustainable future.
