County Prep/ATD’s Music & Audio Tech Camp
In July, the Music & Audio Technology Department of County Prep High School/ATD hosted a 2-week Music Performance & Recording Summer Camp for both current and incoming Music Technology majors. During the camp, students immersed themselves in the songwriting process, creating and refining their original compositions. Their hard work culminated in the department’s first-ever Summer Camp Showcase, where they performed their original songs for fellow students and faculty.
In addition, they explored The National Jazz Museum in Harlem, where they delved into the rich history of jazz music and its deep connections to African-American culture. They also tried their hand at scat singing, a form of vocal improvisation unique to jazz.
