Promoting Wellness and Peace: Therapy Dogs Visit HTHS/ACTE

On October 30, 2024, Joseph Cossolini, a Board Member of Hudson County Schools of Technology and the Jersey City POBA Civic Association, and his partner Letia Nalls visited HTHS/ACTE at the Frank J. Gargiulo Center. They were warmly received by the Student Support Services Department and a group of students as they introduced their Community Therapy Dog Program. Cossolini and Nalls, handlers of certified therapy dogs, spent time engaging with both students and staff, promoting peace, wellness, and spiritual renewal in a unique manner that only therapy dogs can provide.

The two therapy dogs, Harley and Callie, come from Ultimate Canine in Indiana and were specifically selected, evaluated, and trained to support both educators and students in fostering a positive learning environment. With their calm and gentle nature, these dogs help create a comforting atmosphere that promotes well-being for everyone they meet.
