Inspiring the Next Generation of Scientists: Dr. Shelly Witham Honored as Hudson County Teacher of the Year

Congratulations, Shelly Witham!

The Hudson County Schools of Technology is proud to congratulate Shelly Witham, Earth & Environmental Science Teacher at High Tech High School, on being named the 2026–2027 Hudson County Teacher of the Year! ??

With 25 years of teaching experience at High Tech, Dr. Witham brings her background in geology and science education into the classroom, creating authentic, hands-on learning experiences that inspire students to think like scientists and problem-solvers.

She is also a founder and leader of the Environmental Science Academy, helping students earn college credit and pursue their passion for environmental studies while still in high school. Her dedication extends beyond the classroom through student mentorship, FFA, teacher support, environmental initiatives, and community outreach.

Shelly’s passion, expertise, and commitment to her students make this recognition so well deserved. We are incredibly proud to have her represent HCST as Hudson County Teacher of the Year!
