Bringing Nature and Art Together: Juniors Discover Urban Ecology on the High Line
On October 2nd, Juniors in the Environmental Science Academy, who are currently taking a course in Urban Ecology, visited the High Line, an urban park in the heart of New York City. During this trip, the students witnessed the principles of urban ecology firsthand. They observed native plants, wildlife, and artwork in the reclaimed space that was once a freight rail line. In addition to studying the park’s biodiversity and green infrastructure, the class explored many public art installations integrated into the landscape. This experience brought both ecological and artistic concepts to life, deepening students’ understanding of how nature, art, and cities can coexist.
