On April 22nd, all of Mr. Kliesh’s classes embarked on an adventurous journey to Mt Tammany in Columbia, New Jersey, to take on the Lewis and Clark challenge. The hike was designed to be both educational and physically challenging, mirroring the experiences of the famous explorers.

Students followed the red trail, with a unique twist: they could only advance if they answered questions correctly. Incorrect answers resulted in a temporary halt to the hike, adding an element of challenge and engagement to the experience.

For some students, like myself, who had never hiked a mountain before, the journey presented significant challenges. As I fell behind my group, another teacher and I created a "left-behind" group, ensuring that no student was left behind during the ascent.
Despite the difficulties, the hike offered breathtaking views and valuable lessons. While not everyone made it to the summit, including myself, the experience taught us resilience and the importance of perseverance.

Descending the mountain proved to be even more challenging, requiring careful attention to each step. Yet, the journey down reinforced the lesson that anything is possible with determination and effort.

This field trip not only deepened our understanding of the Lewis and Clark expedition but also instilled in us a valuable life lesson: never underestimate your abilities. With determination and perseverance, we can overcome any obstacle. Overall, the Lewis and Clark Hike Challenge was an unforgettable and enriching experience for all involved.
