County Prep Students to Showcase Collaborative “Legacy Scroll” at the Kennedy Center

At County Prep High School, staff and students in Ms. Lauto’s and Mr. Edcius’s art classes and clubs recently participated in a special artist workshop led by Steven and William Ladd of Scrollathon, an interactive art initiative that explores identity, culture, and community through fabric scrolls.

During the workshop, students created personal scrolls using color, symbolism and words to express their individual identities, values, and stories. In addition to their individual work, students collaborated on a legacy scroll representing New Jersey. This collective piece will be displayed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., as part of a national exhibition running from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2026.

The experience encouraged reflection, collaboration, and creative expression, while providing students with a unique opportunity to see their voices represented through collective artwork on a national stage. We are grateful to Steven and William Ladd for sharing their time, talents, and inspiring artistic practice with our school community.
