County Prep Culinary Arts Alum Shines on Netflix’s NextGen Chef

County Prep High School Culinary Arts alumnus Joaquin Cariaso (Class of 2019) recently showcased his talent on the global stage, competing on Netflix’s hit competition series NextGen Chef for a grand prize of $500,000.

Over the course of the season, Joaquin proved himself to be a standout competitor. Serving as a team leader in multiple challenges, he impressed the judges with his daring flavor combinations and willingness to take risks in the kitchen. Out of 21 chefs from across the country, Joaquin earned an impressive 4th place finish.

A graduate of both County Prep High School and the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, Joaquin has quickly built a name for himself in the restaurant world. He currently works as a Sous Chef at Manhatta in New York City, a restaurant striving to achieve a Michelin Star.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Joaquin has remained connected to County Prep, often returning to the classroom to give food demonstrations and mentor students.

The Netflix series has quickly become one of the platform’s Top 10 most-watched shows, giving viewers a chance to witness Joaquin’s journey from County Prep graduate to rising star in the culinary world.
