BASIC AUTOMOTIVE WORKSHOP

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of car maintenance and how the systems of a car work together. Topics include tools, manuals, maintenance schedules, and checking fluids. For the hands-on part of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to practice with their own car. Participants will have an opportunity to change the oil in their own vehicles while learning how to use a car jack to safely work underneath the car. We will also review how to check and change an air filter, how to inspect your brakes, How to check a vehicle’s fluid levels, including washer fluid, brake fluid, engine oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid/ If you do not have a car or do not want to change your own oil, there will still be an opportunity to learn by helping other participants. This workshop is designed to teach car care basics. Always see a professional for complete vehicle service and maintenance.

What to Bring: Please have your owner’s manual and know where the jack and lug nut wrench are stored in your car. Come dressed to be on the ground and with clothes that you don’t mind getting oil and grease on.
