(Millburn, NJ--May 6, 2019) High Tech Musical Theatre’s production of Evita received two Rising Star Award nominations from Paper Mill Playhouse, announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Principal of High Tech High School.
Junior Sara Bartoszek, a resident of Hoboken, received a nomination for Best Featured Actress for her portrayal of the “Mistress”, and Trista DeFilippis, head of the dance department, received a nomination for Best Choreography.
The Rising Star Awards recognize excellence in musical theatre throughout the state of New Jersey. 100 high schools throughout the Garden State compete in categories similar to those of the Tony Awards, which highlight the best of Broadway shows. Besides performance categories, design and technical areas of the musicals can be eligible to receive nominations.
The 2019 Rising Star Awards ceremony will be held on June 3rd at the Paper Mill Playhouse.
